I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of North Carolina who specializes in working with adults (18 and older).  My internships were at Dorothea Dix Hospital working with male patients with severe and persistent mental illness and at Kaiser Permanente as an outpatient psychotherapist. I hold membership in The National Association of Social Workers and The International Transactional Analysis Association,

I have received specialized training with adults using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) from Dr. Clive Robbins at Duke University;  Transactional Analysis (TA) from Dr. Vann Joines of the Southeastern Institute for Group & Family Therapy in Chapel Hill, NC. Another training I have completed is: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Mind-Body Medicine: A 7-Day Professional Training Retreat led by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, and Saki F. Santorelli, EdE, MA.  I was trained in PAIRS for couples by Seth Eisenberg in Hampton, VA in 2012 through a program with Veteran’s Administration.

I have worked at Wake County Outpatient Clinic for Adults in Cary for three years as a psychotherapist and at Holly Hills Hospital for one year on the inpatient unit as a social worker. I’ve been in private practice for 14 years.

Prior to doing the work of a therapist/counselor, I was in business with my husband for 10 years where we owned a small software development company.  I have had years of experience in the corporate environment and government sector as well.

Recently I have added a new approach with clients one of spiritual from a Christian perspective.  If you are interested in a non-secular approach and prefer a more scripture approach, I would be pleased to work with you from that point of view as well.

Practice Philosophy and Theoretical Orientation I take a practical approach to understanding individuals. My role is to assist you in finding a solution to your issues. I have found using Transactional Analysis (TA) or some combination of therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or taking a Christian perspective to have been beneficial for clients in making their desired self-change. I endeavor to find a way where you can receive the maximum benefit from our working together.
